Prayer Time Calculation Methods
Ramadan Intelligence supports various calculation methods for prayer times. Each method uses different angles to determine Fajr and Isha times, which can vary based on geographical locations and religious schools of thought.
Available Calculation Methods:
- Muslim World League
Fajr: 18°, Isha: 17° (Used in Europe, Far East, and parts of North America)
- Islamic Society of North America (ISNA)
Fajr: 15°, Isha: 15° (Used in North America)
- Egyptian General Authority of Survey
Fajr: 19.5°, Isha: 17.5° (Used in Africa, Syria, Iraq, Lebanon)
- Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah
Fajr: 18.5°, Isha: 90 min after Maghrib (Used in Arabian Peninsula)
- University of Islamic Sciences, Karachi
Fajr: 18°, Isha: 18° (Used in Pakistan, Bangladesh, India, Afghanistan)
- Institute of Geophysics, University of Tehran
Fajr: 17.7°, Isha: 14° (Used in Iran and some Shia communities)
How to Change Your Calculation Method:
- Go to Settings in your app
- Select "Prayer Times"
- Tap "Calculation Method"
- Choose your preferred method
- Save your changes
For the most accurate prayer times, we recommend consulting with your local mosque or religious authority and selecting the calculation method they use.
Location Settings
Accurate prayer times depend on your precise location. Ramadan Intelligence offers multiple ways to set and manage your location.
Managing Your Location:
- Automatic Location
Allow the app to automatically detect your location using GPS and network data. This ensures the most accurate prayer times, especially when traveling.
- Manual Location Entry
Search for and select your city, or enter coordinates manually if you prefer not to use GPS or are setting prayer times for a different location.
- Multiple Locations
Premium users can save multiple locations to quickly switch between them (e.g., home, work, travel destinations).
How to Update Your Location:
- Go to Settings in your app
- Select "Prayer Times"
- Tap "Location Settings"
- Choose "Automatic" or "Manual"
- If manual, search for your city or enter coordinates
- Save your changes
For automatic location to work properly, please ensure location permissions are enabled for the Ramadan Intelligence app in your device settings.
Prayer Notifications
Ramadan Intelligence offers customizable notifications to help you never miss a prayer time. You can set different notification types and timings for each prayer.
Notification Features:
- Advance Reminders
Set notifications to alert you 5, 10, 15, or 30 minutes before each prayer time to help you prepare.
- Prayer Time Alerts
Receive notifications at the exact prayer time.
- Missed Prayer Reminders
Optional reminders if you haven't marked a prayer as completed after a certain time.
- Custom Sounds
Choose from various notification sounds, including adhan options from different traditions.
Customizing Your Notifications:
- Go to Settings in your app
- Select "Notifications"
- Tap "Prayer Times"
- Customize settings for each prayer (Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, Isha)
- Set your preferred reminder times, sounds, and vibration options
- Save your changes
If you're not receiving notifications, check your device settings to ensure notifications are enabled for the Ramadan Intelligence app and that Do Not Disturb mode is not active during prayer times.
Troubleshooting Prayer Timing Issues
If you're experiencing issues with prayer times or notifications, try these common solutions:
Inaccurate Prayer Times
- Verify your location settings are correct
- Ensure you've selected the appropriate calculation method for your region
- Check if your timezone is set correctly
- Try switching from automatic to manual location (or vice versa)
- Update to the latest app version
Not Receiving Notifications
- Check if notifications are enabled in app settings
- Verify app permissions in your device settings
- Ensure Do Not Disturb mode is not active
- Check if battery optimization is preventing notifications
- Restart your device
- Reinstall the app if the issue persists
Prayer Times Different from Local Mosque
- Mosques may use different calculation methods
- Some mosques adjust times for community convenience
- In the app settings, try different calculation methods to find the closest match
- Premium users can set manual adjustments for each prayer time
Issues in High Latitude Regions
- In areas near the poles, during certain seasons, some prayer times may not occur due to extended daylight/darkness
- Go to Settings > Prayer Times > High Latitude Method
- Select an appropriate method (Middle of Night, Seventh of Night, or Angle-Based)
- Consult local Islamic authorities for guidance on prayer times in your region
